Bump #1
How comes I like to talk to myself in english but when such a thread pops up I have no idea what to post here?

>>132406348 (OP)Hello. How are you?
>>132407107I guess native speakers would lost their shit if I'd tried to talk to them. And I probably messed up tenses again.
>>132407346Sup, I ain't so fine as I could be, but it's OK, lul.

>>132407453Have you tried online games, talking about player's female parent's sexual life?
So I have some street-level proficiency in this wonderful language. Lacking grammar skills and proper education. What's next? Where to go? Should I try master the language further or should I stick to movies, english IRC and fiction?I had never ever tried to learn grammar and whatnot, spent whole time remembering idioms from other people's talk/text.inb4 US/England trip
>>132407426Well, maybe later you'll be positive.

Hey guys, I passed my English "GIA" exam this summer and solved 96% of my test, including the conversational part.
Guys how would you advice to watch moviesin english. I can understand 70% of info without subtitles, but with them it's around 90%. So should i use them?
>>132409251grats? 90% of us have no idea what's GIA
>>132409272You should watch films in English and with English subs. In this case you can understand all stuff and also see which words you don't know.
>>132409022> Look up English vowel pronunciation in youtube. Learn the sounds of English. Practise everyday. Talk to yourselfFuck this shit. Have you ever seen any youtube-learnvowels-video? These guys just say REPEAT AFTER ME. There is no theory or any explanation.Yes, i downloaded Gene Zerna course, but it requires years of practicting
>>132409251So, you got 96 out of 100? Have you been preparing for it?

>>132409344Goddamned fool, it's state exam.
>>132409379Nah, that's GIA. I thought about EGE for some reason.
>>132409251GIA doesn't show your real knowledge of language. I think IELTS is more objective evaluation:)
>>132409272No, you should pause and think what was said if you didn't understand on the fly. And if you still have no idea -- switch on subtitles.
>>132409368I have a book that would provide you with all theoretical material necessary to know how to pronounce certain sounds. With pictures and shit
>>132408986I DO listen enough music, lol, and I'd say music ain't good method of improving listening skill tho. Just listen to some metal song and you will find out what I'm saying about.
>>132409379I've been learning English for 8 years, and also I have been solving "GIA" tests the whole last year before my exam. To be honest, I didn't expect this) I hoped that I would solve 60-70 percents.

Анон, поясни, чем has been отличается от was ... ?Например, "bomb has been planted", "you have been banned" и т.д.Или смысл у них одинаковый, но has been просто звучит красивее?
>>132409802Has been refers to a result. For example you have been banned and you are banned now. Past simple tense has no connection with present and it is incorrect to use it in such expressions
