If there's one thing in which Russia is one of the best, then its banking. We pay with NFC almost everywhere (if you are not a Church of Apple worshipper) and in cases we can't, we transfer money with mobile apps or even SMS!

My opinion, as a person who lived in the US for several years, is that the Russian banking system is more developed for the consumer. It is more convenient, profitable and simple. You can pay for a meal at a restaurant or tip at a cafe by simply showing your phone with a QR on the screen through the app. I haven't seen this in the US. Or even pay in a store and you don't need a card at all, in Russia you don't have to tie your phone to your hand to avoid it being stolen on the street, so it's safe.
